The cheapo vaporisers are a waste of money. But, if you get a real good quality vaporiser you will save on your chron costs and it will pay for the vap in a matter of weeks/months. the volcano is nice, and flashy. But it costs more than R6000 at today's exchange rate.

If you smoke swaz, it may take longer to recoup the cost of the vap, but if you smoke R80-120 pg stuff it makes loads of sense. Fact is you taste the herbal aroma, you get VERY stoned and nothing smells of smoke. It's a no brainer.

Now the question, cost vs quality...

If you buy a cheap ass unit you will think a vap sucks. That's because you can't control the temp and the materials used are crap. So you waste weed and your vap kaks in a few months. That's if you did not throw it away already.

My first HerbalAire (version 1.1) I purchased in 2004 and it still works. Now I'm using the 1.2 with some additional extras like auto-off after 20 mins. But, even without it the thing just does not want to die. It falls on tiles (a lot), I forget it on for the whole night (I did with version 1.1 a lot), but because it is made of teflon and the build quality is top class ( 24 month warranty ) it is worth every cent.

For some other info check out: Oh and BTW, the HerbalAire will cost R2600 ex VAT and duties and R3100 inclusive. Check their website. We may be getting some stock in bulk locally to make it more affordable.

The HerbalAire is really taking off here in North America especially after the following innovations/experiments.

For your information, we have heard from a number of independent retailers that tested the new herbalAire H2.1 bag fill system vs. the Volcano. The results shocked us, but needless to say that we are very pleased. After extracting the essence using the Volcano, they then put this "spent herb" into the herbalAire and were able to extract 2 more bags - yes, 2 more bags than the "premier" vaporizer. In reverse, after extracting the essence using the herbalAire and then putting the spent herb into the Volcano they were able to extract absolutely nothing - they were shocked as well! Since then, we have asked that anyone who has access to a Volcano to try the test themselves. The results have been the same! Got Vape, out of California has picked us up because of this, and the word is spreading like wildfire.

This is the tri-bag fill group therapy mouth"peace". With a new variable high volume air pump, these there bags filled to bursting in about 4 minutes and I am sure we can do better than that. With the crucible only 3/4 filled, we extracted 9 extremely essence laden bags.

In the last 16 months, not a week went by without an innovation.

I think that this is a great marketing accessory. The Volcano cannot do this either.

please tell me what you think of the marketing potential of this concept and also there is an obvious business opportunity here for you in your country - especially with the buzz that is going around here

From www.cannabisculture.com [KanMan]

The Herbal Aire Vaporizer is by far Better Than The Volcano at Half the Price.

Now, "Better" is a relative term.

Obviously the Two Units are Different.

The Herbal Aire Vs. The Volcano.

The Herbal Aire takes a little more work and time, while half the price and efficient. While The Volcano is user friendly, but expensive and reliable. Here is my synopsis and comparison. Hope others have questions or comments.

What I was hoping for out of this product was that it put into the bag either what the Volcano does or more. And the Herbal Aire definatly puts much more Active Cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavinoids into the bag making the vapor much more smooth and flavourfull. From our use and from the tests I've read, this New Canadian Vaporizer is Better.

The Herbal Aire company claims that the Eighteen Tiny Jets are much more efficient at combusting the tricombs and recomend putting full buds into the unit with no need to cut or grind the herb. The heat and force of air will totally vaporize any full bud on the first 2 bags. The Volcano recommends grinding up your herbs first to compensate for it's air jet.

Though the Mouth Piece for the Herbal Aire doesn't have a Valve, there is really no need for one. No vapor escapes unless the bag is blown up big and tight. And the unit was designed so that the Mouth Piece is desposible. You can buy a couple new Mouth Pieces and Bags for only $5-$10 and get rid of the old ones.

And Although it takes three times longer to fill a bag, the pump is external and can be upgraded. As well, the Unit accually heats up more than twice as fast as the Volcano with the Herbal Aire taking 1-2 minutes while the Volcano takes as much as 4 minutes to heat up.

The temperature dial on the Herbal Aire is far more accurate than the Volcano, adding the feature of a 200-400 degree display as oppossed to a 1-10 number dial.

The Herbal Aire even has a Learning (AI) Artificial Intelligence Temperature Control Board to compensate for enviromental conditions. The Volcano Doesn't Have This.

As far as the filling chambers, the Herbal Aire can be filled 100% to about 1gram+ of herbs, were the Volcano can be filled to over 2grams at 100%, although it is recomended that you only fill the Volcano 1/3 to half way. So they are basicly even there.

The two plugs on the Hebal Aire is definatly a draw back but not a big one as the pump is seperate and can be upgraded. Or the Herbal Aire can accually be used without the pump, using the users own draw of air for pulling hot air past the herbs. Although the pump is far more effective.

Side by side comparisons of the Bag Vapor, and Final Vaporized Herbs after use, on both devices is interesting. The Hebal Aire's Vapor is consistantly silver/gray to almost nothing, and the final product comes out very dark brown with no sign of green after 2-3 bags. The Volcano's Vapor starts out light silver/gray to darker and lighter again, to the final product coming out light brown with some green sometimes left behind after 6-8 bags.

A couple cool extra features of the Herbal Aire include an automatic 30 minute shut off and Ground Effect Style Red Lighting. The Herbal Aire looks great.

We even did a little experiment with the two vaporizers that we have here at the Up In Smoke Cafe. I wanted to back-up my thoughts about the Herbal Aire and how it gets more out of the pot than the magnificent Volcano. I filled the Herbal Aire up with some Volcano remains and filled the Volcano with Herbal AIre remains and fired them up.

The Herbal Aire got about one and a half bags of Vapour from what was left out of the Volcano after 9 bags...

The vapor wasn't as tasty as it usually would have been, considering it was old Volcano left-overs...but there was definately something in there.

We also did the same but reversed. There was very little vapor at all in the Volcano from Herbal Aire remains after only 2 bags.

We have been doing some further testing and some more pics and video with be posted soon.

wow, are you like a glomail vaporiser representative or something? and i thought we already came to the conclusion that vapourisers are lame... great for people who dont smoke weed and would like to but are afraid of smoke in their lungs, but useless for the hardened toker, sorry man but i dont care what kind of cool auto off features a vap has, they still dont got shit on a good bong hit.

once you have gotten properly high off a bong a vapouriser can only be discribed as providing a light buzz in comparison. weed may last longer in a vape but it simple doesn't do they same job, it's all got to do with decarboxilization you see, thc exposed to tempratures of higher than 200 degrees celcius is chemically bonded into 10 times more different forms because the chemical reactions are far more violent, when weed is heated slow as in a vap, the reactions that occur are not on the same level, resulting in a different type of high from differents types of decarboxilization. vaporisers simply do not and can not provide the same high as a joint or bong. for instance, this year i put one gram of icky sticky seedless blueberry into a clean never before used volcano vapouriser, inhaled the vapour and was shocked to find my sweet blueberry weed tasting more like peppermint and grass, the flavour of general vegetation, very dissipointing, but i carried on vapousing my gram, in the hopes that a solid high would make up for the loss in flavour but again the vapouriser failed to deliver, providing me with a light buzz for about an hour, pissed off, i took out a new gram of the same exact plant, broke it up into 5 nice fat bong hits and smoked them over the next 3 hours, each one tasting like a golden beam of sunlight dancing upon my tastebuds and leaving me totally and utterly stoned until i fell asleep hours later.

crap1 crap2

this doesn't make sense to me.. human flesh would spontaniously combust at these temps so whats preventing the weed from combusting? as far as i know they whole concept of the vapouriser revolves around something to do with heating it sufficiently to "activate" thc but not hot enough to burn it... and thc starts vapourising at 50 degrees or something low like that... so why are these vaps advertised with such high tempratures? its false advertising dude... i've actually played with alot of fire and when you shoot a jet of air that is in 200 degrees at something it generally burst's into flame in about 5 seconds..

damn, forgot to type celcius... um plant matter that is totally wet and alive on the plant may only ignite at those tempratures(300 degrees...), but dry plant matter will ignite much lower, i mean, i light my bongs without ever touching the flame to the plant matter.

Cannabis herb is burnt during smoking, temperatures of approx. 500-700°C being reached during this process.
Vaporization of cannabis, on the other hand, involves the herbal material being heated to a minimum of 185°C, this being the temperature from which THC (tetrahydrocannabinol - the main active ingredient in cannabis) evaporates from the herbal material and blends with air (i.e. being transformed into an inhalable form).

The Merck Index lists the boiling point of delta 1 Tetrahydrocannabinol as 200° C (392° F) 365° F appears optimal for vaporizing.

Marijuana produces THCA, an acid with the carboxylic group (COOH) attached. In its acid form, THC is not very active. It is only when the carboxyl group is removed that THC becomes psychoactive. When marijuana is smoked, the THC behind the hot spot is vaporized as the hot air from the burn is drawn through the joint or pipe bowl to the unburned material. The liquid THC and other cannabinoids have a boiling point of between 180-200 C (355-392 F). Before they turn gaseous, at around 106 C (220 F), the carboxyl group is released from the molecule as carbon dioxide and water vapor.

The temps indicated on the HerbalAire are in Fahrenheit. If vaporising is not for you, it's not for you. Enjoy your joint, bong or whatever you use to smoke.

I, personally, have seen too many people (getting stoned) and research that contradicts your assessment that you have to burn cannabis to get that special high. But, if it's what you truly believe, who am I to say you are wrong.

The proof is in the pudding as they say, and it is yummy in a vap and everybody gets mighty stoned when smoking out of my vap.

The proof of the pudding is that you are wanting to sell a couple, and that would probably put it in your best interest to support them... I don't claim that one smokes better than the other as I haven't done any 'research' to prove or contradict that, but have you ever considered that some just like to smoke? Anyways man, really appreciate all the effort thats been put into the online marketing 101 talk, but no thanks

I've been smoking a vap since 2005 and have been advocating its use since then. All my friend also feel the same. Yes, I do now sell the stuff, but it's just a sideline. I am a professional earning well above the JHB average and the few extra bucks I'll make selling the vaps are not significant. It's actually just because I believe in the product and I've had to order a lot for friends before. Now I just bought bulk to have some stock.

Re: Vaporizers

Postby Batman on Wed Sep 23, 2009 4:43 pm

I don't really care whether I smoke a normal fat J or a Bong or whatever .... as long as I get high!! bigjoint:

I however need to get a vaporiser though. anyone know where I can get one in Jhb?

and here's the story as to why i decided i need a vap .... i've been diagnosed with high blood pressure and the Doc says i need to quit all smoking (incl weed as he says it's messing up my lungs as well). lol, so i'm obviously not too keen on giving up on my favourite herb quite yet so i did some research and found this ...

"According to the NAS, the effects of marijuana on blood pressure are complex, depending on dose, administration, and posture. Marijuana often produces a temporary, moderate increase in blood pressure immediately after ingestion; however, heavy chronic doses may slightly depress blood pressure instead. One common reaction is to cause decreased blood pressure while standing and increased blood pressure while lying down, causing people to faint if they stand up too quickly. There is no evidence that pot use causes persisting hypertension or heart disease; some users even claim that it helps them control hypertension by reducing stress.

One thing THC does do is to increase pulse rates for about an hour. This is not generally harmful, since exercise does the same thing, but it may cause problems to people with pre-existing heart disease. Chronic users may develop a tolerance to this and other cardiovascular reactions." Source: http://www.lycaeum.org/paranoia/marijuana/facts/mj-health-mythology.html

I also found this ....

"Does Smoking Tobacco Cause High Blood Pressure?

No. However, it can temporarily raise blood pressure, and it DOES increase the risk of heart and blood vessel diseases.

Smoking injures blood vessel walls and speeds up the process of hardening of the arteries. So even though it does not cause high blood pressure, smoking is bad for anyone, especially those with high blood pressure. If you smoke, quit. If you don't smoke, don't start. Once you quit, your risk of having a heart attack is reduced after the first year. So you have a lot to gain by quitting." Source: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/hbp/prevent/factors/smoke.htm

i'm thinking that my Doc is not quite correct about weed causing high blood pressure. From what i've read so far it seems to really be the smoke itself as well as Nicotine that actually lead to high bllood pressure ... THC on it's own, if smoking chronically, seems to actually lower blood pressure.

so i think/hope/pray i can still get away with smoking MJ if i get a vaporiser and not raise my BP in the process.

You won't be dissapointed. I lol'd at this thread. Everybody who's going "OMG VAPE SUX" are the non-owners and ones who have only 'tried' it. You'll gag on the next bong hit. The taste of vape is way more pure and so is the high (no CBD's). The vape doesnt quite pack the same punch. It makes you cough, but in a different way. Even though I've got a vape, im still saving up for a 'awesome' bong. I love my weed, but sometimes I seem to enjoy the actual toking experience more than achieving the high.

There is another local site selling vaporizers, although not as good a brand name as Getafix's.
www.vapo.co.za

I have been buying ecig stuff from them for a while now, very nice people, always eager to help out.

Nope, had a vape for 3 years now, smoked it once a year or so, vapes just aren't for me, think they kinda do suck lol, but its because I enjoy smoking, I'd even go so far to say that for me weed tastes better in a clean bong than a vape, also I like the cbd's, they play an important role in balancing the thc high, also are anti-psychotics so pretty usefull imho.
