The problem is that the prescription itself is not seen as being legal. None of the professional medical associations endorse the right of doctors to prescribe cannabis.
The only area where a prescription would help is if you get bust and you use it in court asking for leniency. Even though a doctor gave you a script it is unlikely he would be willing to testify on your behalf in court so the script does not help much.
Your best bet is to use the script to try and persuade the cops not to arrest you in the first place. Many police officers will be lenient to genuine medical users.
Without actually getting medical cannabis legal there are no grounds to expect that a script will be of any real use. Get involved in getting the law changed. Write to your MP and tell him why you want his help in changing the law. Join NORML to help fight for the cause.
Try the legal route to the Department Of Health if you want. If you have any success in actually getting someone who is prepared to speak to you let us know. Perhaps we could get all the real medical users on the site to join in a class action application.
