10 x Cheese
5xMazar
5x Sensi Orange (sensi starX california Orange)
7x AK 47

have just made cuttings after selecting my mothers, they are 2.5months into veg, gonna flower them in 2 or so weeks as they are looking nice and healthy now!!!!!!!!!

All of them grown from clones, the genetics come from various seed banks, but have seen what they have produced and was well impressed.
will post pics as soon as they start to flower.

As mentionedin other threads this is my first time growing indoors and am loving it

I've been wanting to cross a widow swazi for ages. My friend grew a 8 foot widow outdoors and the leaves freaked out a bit in the Durban heat. Figured a cross with a good swazi male would be brilliant.

How's she grow?

this snow white is a tough bitch and can take the most stress out of any plant i've ever seen. this includes nutrient deficiencies or over feeds as well as light cycle breaking, branch bending etc. i selected her out of a couple of seeds that all looked quite different but thats expected when you growing F2 hybrids. in the end i settled on this one and its been good to me. sadly i dont have much space to grow in so this will be the last run the snow white gets before i hand off the last of the clones to a friend or two to look after. I need to make space for all the new stuff i've got going and i dont even think those will all fit but im going to really try and bonsai the crap out of these next mom plants i make so they stay nice and small. Got to keep those moms indoors during winter and the indoors veg area is very small. got to fit 4-6 moms in there + clones its going to be a tight squeeze ! the next crop is going to be sea of green style with clones vegged for 10 days - white russian and mazar x masterkush mostly. the straight masterkush is also going to be ready to clone soon so a couple of those will be in there as well and maybe if this lil skunk #1 seedling hurries up it will make it in there. also the local mango strain is looking better by the day and the clone i made is really taking off i'll post a pic of it now now. but this strain is about a 12 week plant so im not sure if im ready to toss anymore indoors yet, but maybe i'll let one finish outdoors if i can get a nice clone in time.

anyways take it easy guys and have a really nice long weekend !!

That Snow White sounds exactly perfect for what i want to do. I've got this current strain of swazi i'm growing at a friends, wow, i've LST'd this bitch so much and it's still about six or so feet tall, i want to cross that strain with a decent widow for one big bad monster.

Now i'm going to sound like a bit of a tit, but could you or someone please explain to me this whole F2 think. Or F1 thing. I'm going to assume it has something to do with breeding of sorts?

P.S what do you do that allows you to grow so much dope and still have a decent living? Because whatever you do, i want to do it too.

Re: elite clones in SA

basically we started off with just the land race plants. these plants grew naturally in their native environments and were sculpted by evolution over thousands of years to become different from each other according to what area they lived in. then man got involved and started making hybrids of these land races, although at first i doubt they even knew that thats what they were doing. so they bred certain indian strains with other ones that were also good and they came up with a nice haze type of weed for smoking or making hash with. when you take 2 different strains of MJ and breed them together you get a hybrid plant of the F1 generation (the first generation). then if you plant those F1 seeds and look for a good male and female plant out of them all and breed them together you are creating a selectively bred F2 generation. if you repeat the process you get F3 and so on but as soon as you take another different plant to cross with say for instance your F4 generation swaz x F2 white widow then the seeds that that makes will be F1 because this is now a whole different hybrid and the gene pool has expanded. by selectively inbreeding your plants you are shrinking the gene pool each generation and progressively dropping the weaker genes although you will not be able to really tell unless you do hundreds of thousands of seeds each generation because the plants alleles (the visible active genes) are all you can see and the actual gene pool is hidden from sight. but the general rule of thumb with breeding is that the selected progeny should be better than each of its parents for it to be a viable cross otherwise you are working backwards. some alleles that plants show are "clone only" they call it. for example the Uk cheese plant will not make the same cheesy tasting babies if it is crossed with something else. this gene is freak luck. genes that are transmitted to the progeny during a cross have to follow certain rules. some genes need both parents to posses the same gene for it to be passed on, some genes only require one parent to have them and they are dominant so they will show up most the time (deep chunk does this). some recessive genes just wont want to show in any progeny even though they are passed on. and there are loads of other rules i cant think of now. something else interesting is hybrid vigor. if you take two vastly different plants like a 100% indica and a 100% sativa and you breed them together you will get some F1 seeds. those F1's will be very vigorous. the more different the mom and the dad plants the more vigor in the progeny. when inbreeding strains you are loosing vigor every generation. sometimes people like to back cross their F2's or F3's to the mom plant or dad plant to try and get the plant more similar to that parent. this is called cubing. some of the best breeders in the world say that you only need to back cross once and hardly ever twice. some noob breeders think that the more you back cross something to a parent the more of its genes are shared with it but that is not true. so after a couple of generations of inbreeding you will notice that each generation is looking the same and the plants are looking very uniform to each other. you can now call this an IBL (in bred line). most of the best hybrids in the world started from crossing different IBLs together. if you breed an F1 hybrid with another F1 hybrid you are making a poly hybrid. this is also quite an interesting way of breeding because the plants that grow from the seeds of these kinds of crosses are very different from each other and you can sift through the crap plants and find some real diamonds in the rough that will be totally unique and some times not even resemble either parent. anyway i think thats enough of breeding 101 for today.

Peace

Well...

Basically i can say.... that was quite the lecture. Really cleared stuff up i must say. Thought it had something to do with generations of breeding but that really does seem like it could be on Wikipedia. Epic post, thanks a million!

yeah im also keen to see the cheeseberry haze

popped some beans today, 1 of each strain and we'll see whats going to sprout up:

mazar x masterkush and white russian, looking for different pheno's of those two

black cheese - yummy sativa that i havent had time to see much of yet

deep chunk - new goodies to try out !

deep chunk x northern lights #5 - new goodies to try out !

masterkush - love this stuff and lost the mom to some strange infection

probably going to pop a few more next week, need to find another skunk #1 mom like the one in the pics above... also interested in popping a few more skunk #1 x jack herer that i made a couple months back. hoping to find a decent male that i can use to continue the line with. theres also the power plant x black forest beans that i've been meaning to get around to popping... so many things so little grow space!
